Accomplishments

Julie has been a strong supporter of local governments and policy makers by providing training, education, and delivering timely data analysis that leaders rely on to make decisions that are best for their communities. Julie has also been proud to represent Minnesotans by sitting on boards that deal with issues such as pensions, investments, economic development, and housing.

During her time in office, Julie has:

  • Received the highest possible rating from a peer review conducted by the National State Auditors Association (NSAA).

  • Helped return $6.1 million to county auditors in 2018 through oversight measures.

  • Increased engagement and action at the legislature by providing leadership and technical support on a number of bipartisan issues.

  • Lead the investigation into the H’mong College Prep Fund, which found $4.3 million in funds that were not accounted for.

  • Oversaw the largest rebuilding of the auditor's office in the last 16 years.

  • Built Minnesota’s first school accountability finance team to ensure that every dollar spent on education benefits children in Minnesota.

  • Increased transparency by modernizing the office’s communications and expanding the ability to get data into people’s hands.

  • Improved the support the OSA provides to local law enforcement; for instance, the investigations into the theft of funds by the former director of the Marshall Convention and Visitors Bureau.
